The trees of the ancient Caledonian Forest have been gone and buried in the

highland peat bogs for many years. These ancient Pinewoods grew and stood tall

just after the last ice age and were at their peak 5 to 6 thousand years ago.

Climate change and other contributing factors caused the disappearance of the

ancient forest of the highlands and only 1% remains. Finding preserved

fragments of these trees under the peat bogs has been amazing. It is truly like

finding hidden historical treasure.

Frome this bronze age wood, Mystical Isle Gems makes exquisite jewelry pieces I

call forest gems. They are individually and artistically made so not one piece is

exactly the same.

Each unique wooden gem is a numbered art piece. What does the number

mean? The first number in the series means where the bogwood was found, the

second number tells you which artist designed and made your one-of-a-kind

piece of art.

On our website your number will give you details about your specific Mystical Isle

Gems. You will be able to use the tree number to look up where your tree was

found, a little history on the location, as well as pictures. Visit our Find your tree

blogs showing the making of forest gems and more. I hope to include vlogs of

treasure hunting in the peat bogs—a fun muddy adventure! The jewelry

competitors that sell in retail stores do not offer anything like this. In fact, no

other souvenirs offer this with their products. 

Presently you will not find similar jewelry in gift shops in Scotland or in other

places around the world. Searches online will not produce the same products I

have created. There are limited artists and craftsmen that make wooden jewelry;

it is a lost art. I have found a way to use today’s technology to create a wooden

line of jewelry. It still involves a fine degree of craftsmanship and artistry, but

technology shortens the production time. We can effectively create enough

product for you to own your own piece of the ancient forest of Scotland and an

actual piece of Scottish history.
